Special Notes
- Weather forecast. English / Japanese. English more detailed, Japanese more accurate.
- Trailheads. Definitely not accessible without a car, but here's the convoluted public transportation for those who have the time. Of all the trailheads, the best one I think is taking a car to Tayorigashima (便ヶ島), camping at the trailhead and doing two dayhikes with Mt. Tekari.
- Hijiri Trailhead (聖岳登山口). Private vehicles not allowed, so they'll have to park at nearby areas and take the bus.
- Train, Tokyo Station to Shizuoka Station.
- Bullet train. JPY6,670, 80 minutes
- Local trains, JPY3,410. 188 minutes.
- Bus, Shizuoka Station to Hatanagi Dam (畑薙ダム). JPY3,100 one way, 2.5 hours, bus stop "⑧a”.Here's the google maps pin. Schedule for 2019, where it ran from July 13 to August 25. Just one bus a day.
- 10:00am, Shizuoka Station -> 01:25pm Hatanagi Dam.
- 02:25pm, Hatanagi Dam -> 05:50pm, Shizuoka Station.
- Bus, Hatanagi Dam to Hijiri Trailhead. Hijiri Trailhead has no parking, and only shuttles are allowed.
- If using public transportation, it is not possible to make it in to the buses on the same day, which means driving to Hatanagi Dam is a requirement.
- Reservations at least 3 days in advance is required (phone: 080-1560-6309)
- Updated information not available for 2020, so just use this google search.
Bus schedule, Hatanagi Dam (畑薙ダム) < > Hijiri Trailhead (聖岳登山口)
- Sawarajima 椹島. Really a trailhead for Mt. Akaishi. I'll link Mt. Akaishi's blog post later on.
- Numahira (沼平). About 1.5kms from Hatanagi dam, which is also a part of Mt. Akaishi's hike. I'll link Mt. Akaishi's blog post later on.
- Tayorigashima (便ヶ島). Google maps pin here. A trailhead shared with Mt. Tekari (光岳) with a camping spot, but no public access. A taxi can be taken from Hiraoka Station (平岡駅), which will cost around JPY14,000 one way.
- Mountain huts.
Friday
